Extreme Heat
Summer heat is on the rise and extreme heat is a serious health concern, it is good to be prepared and know how to protect yourself during those hot days. First heat waves of the season can be more hazardous than those that occur later in the year. This is because our bodies need time to adjust to the rising temperatures. A little planning ahead will help you get through these super-hot days healthy and comfortable.
- If you have a window unit air conditioner, arrange to have this put in your window before you need it.
- Wear loose clothing
- Limit your time outdoors during peak hours
- Don’t forget sunscreen
- Stay hydrated – it is easy to become dehydrated during a hot day
