 Be Prepared

Make sure you are prepared for when a disaster might strike.  By taking certain necessary steps, you can prepare for unexpected emergencies.  Depending on the type of disaster it could impact more than one area of your town, such as a flood, or could be limited to within your home.  In either case, it is important to be prepared.

  • Gather a “To Go” bag. Have a bag ready to easily grab if you need to leave during an emergency.  Consider having non-perishable food, water, medications, first aid kit, money and important paperwork in the bag.
  • Each person in the household should plan on creating a “To Go” bag, don’t forget your pets, they will need a bag with food, bowls, leashes, toys, and any medications.
  • Talk with your family or friends to choose a place to meet. Two is recommended in case one spot is not accessible.  Choose a family member or friend that is out of state to check in with.
